With Miriam and Adam, superhero posing |
On the next day laziness continued. Adam showed me his impressive collection of WH40K figures, took us for a motorbike ride, and after a good lunch we were off to Melbourne.
Interactive shadows in ACMI |
ACMI turned out to be as cool inside as it looked from the outside. The story of cinema, TV and video games exhibition was great and the interactive parts really fun. Also, you can go there and pay vintage games for free anytime!
Aussie LARPers |
We then met up with Simon B. and after that, went to a standup comedy show about life and sex and drugs by Charlie’s friend, Lisa. We are crashing at hers tonight, too, so that was a perfect way for me to meet my new host. She’s really cool and I’m looking forward to the next few nights at hers. On the way home we run across a large bunch of LARPers having a battle – ah, good old memories come back…
This one is dedicated to my dad. Piano on Fed Square |
One more reflection before the end of the day: Melbourne is also flat. I mean, they don’t build up, outside the immediate city centre most buildings are just ground floor. Considering that the city has 4 million people in it, that means that it’s horribly spread out and getting anywhere takes bloody ages. We drove for almost an hour to get to Lisa’s flat and this is considered not far from the centre… Forget it, I’m not moving here after all.
