Today’s episode is sponsored by the European Union and the Schengen Zone. We are in Italy! We’ve been to four countries today, and we almost crossed the Alps. And without a single stop at any border. How awesome is that?
What a journey, and how many amazing views! There were many ahs and ohs, and so much joy at more and more amazing views. The Alps have it all, truly. And we have been so lucky with the weather! We have the best of all worlds – snowy mountains, beautiful winter landscapes, but also some sun, and completely dry and ice-free roads. Taking all the side roads and avoiding the motorways really paid off – we had the best views and opportunities to stop for unplanned attractions.

It also got dark here much later than in the North – we had decent light way until 5pm. But then after a couple of hours of driving through very windy roads in the dark, we decided to not go all the way to Brescia today, and instead stop in a town on the way. Ended up in a lovely cafe where we had some wonderful chats with the host (Mario – who else?) who doesn’t speak any other language but Italian. He let us charge our laptops and hang out for ages – Italians sure make you feel welcome.
Now we’re off to park by the nearby church and sleep the night.
