Jemma and Simon at a Temple in Europe, France

We decided to say no to more paid motorways. Having spent almost €100 over the last couple days, it just started seeming like the cheap van life is anything but cheap… So, no more toll roads for us.

After more windy mountain roads than we expected, we reached the wide French planes with their long straight highways. We managed to cover quite some distance, too – about 700km today. Good banter, too.

We stopped for the night in a small town on the way, because we quite liked the church and wanted to see it in the morning. But what a night it was! Between the wind howling and the church bells starting at 7, we got a suboptimal amount of sleep.

I made up for this by having a new first: first time brushing teeth in a church. The church was real nice, too.
