Jemma and Simon at a River, Transit in Europe, Poland

We left Simon’s parents’ house about 7.30pm and started our journey towards the German border, with a quick stop by his Grandparents’ house to pick up a new plant – happy to have another travel companion for this journey. The last couple of days have been so crazy hot, but as we were driving west a storm arose.

The first place we have on our list to visit is a large English-style park that sits on the border of Poland and Germany: Muskauer Park / Park Mużakowski. This is among the awesome places that have been recommended to us by Magda.

We stopped the van for the night at Nowogrod Bobrzanski, just in a car park next to the river. When we arrived it had stopped raining, so we grabbed a beer each from the van and walked along the river. It’s not such a beautiful place but there is a cute church on the opposite bank. We could also still see flashes of lightning from the direction we had driven from. But the nicer flashes were from the fireflies! So many!

I don’t think either of us slept too well this night, as our parking spot was a bit too close to the main road. Also it was raining soooo heavily all night and the raindrops smacking against the van roof were so loud!

This morning the weather is pretty overcast – hopefully it will brighten up before we arrive at the park.
