We thought yesterday was cold! The weather isn’t looking great for our beach time in Dahab, unfortunately, it’s barely 20 degrees, cloudy and quite windy, and it’s meant to stay like that for the better part of the week.

We woke up to a beautiful sunrise, packed, caught a morning GoBus to Hurgarda and after some miscommunication, found out way to our homestay. We wanted to go to the beach, but it turns out there are no free beaches here, and with this wind, we didn’t think it’s worth it. We went to visit a mosque, got some stuff on the fruit market, and went around the shipping district, finding cool costume clothing but nothing we wanted to buy.

We spent the evening hanging out with our host and a couple other travellers. It’s nice to exchange experiences, sand we now have a lot of recommendations of places to visit in Chile.

On the next day, we got up early to catch our flight to Sharm Al Sheikh, got an Uber that was a quarter of the price we paid for our taxi after initial landing, got to the wrong terminal and had a fun walk in the wind to the right one. The flight was one of the shortest we’ve ever been on. The landing procedure started two minutes after the start.

We caught a moderately priced ride to Dahab and soon found that Dahab is anything but moderately priced. Our camp is heavily overpriced for the quality we’re getting, all restaurants are pretty expensive, and the shop? They tried to charge us 65 EGP for a 300g pack of granola and 60 for oat milk! That’s triple what we pay in Berlin!

To be honest, the whole place seems very gentrified. It seems like a perfect spot for hipsters pretending to be hippies. The hippie aesthetic is just too much in your face and all over, and the natural medicine store density is way too high for comfort.

We decided to book some intro diving class for tomorrow and hung out in the windy bar outside our camp listening and dancing to live music.
